Recreational Fishing Survey

Researchers from LSU and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries contracted with the SRL to help them estimate the characteristics of persons who fish recreationally in the state.

Isolation in the Underclass

Four LSU researchers contracted with the SRL to conduct a survey in an area north of the LSU campus, as part of a research grant from the National Science Foundation. This survey was designed to assess the economic and social resources of residents of an economically disadvantaged area.

Louisiana Farm Poll

Funded by the LSU Agricultural Center, this state-wide survey of farm households collected information on the economic and non-economic situation of farm households which will be vital to researchers, agricultural officials, and state legislators studying and formulating farm policy.

Baton Rouge Drug Poll

This study involved assessing the drug use patterns and attitudes toward drug use of a random sample of East Baton Rouge Parish residents. It was contracted for by the East Baton Rouge Parish Anti-Drug Task Force.

Labor Displacement in the Louisiana Shrimp Industry

In this study, which was funded by the Louisiana College Sea Grant Program, four LSU researchers assessed the labor situation of Louisiana shrimpers, and estimated the potential impact of labor displacement caused by changes in shrimping regulations.

Hurricane Evacuation Study

The Louisiana Office of Emergency Preparedness contracted with the SRL to survey a random sample of residents in an eleven-parish area in southwestern Louisiana. Designed to determine past patterns of hurricane evacuation and estimate future propensities for evacuation in this area, the study provided critical information for this state agency to use in planning for future hurricanes.
