Thank you to LSU Vet Med personnel who worked during the storm

While LSU closes its campus for natural disasters such as hurricanes, LSU Vet Med does not completely shut down. Our hospital remains open for emergencies and to provide care for critical patients that cannot go home. Research faculty and staff are also often called upon to work before, during, and immediately following storm. Members of our facilities, security, IT, and custodial staff are also on hand or on call. Thank you for all that you do!

Interested in applying to LSU Vet Med to pursue your Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, Master's (MS) degree or Doctoral (PhD) degree, Advanced Training (internships or residencies), Externship, or Career (Job Opportunities)?

Please note that MS and PhD candidates do not need to have a research interest in veterinary medicine and research does not need to benefit animals. LSU Vet Med is a biomedical research institution as well as a veterinary school. Our researchers' investigations cover a wide range of disciplines, including cancer biology, disease processes, cardiovascular disease, infectious and parasitic diseases, neurosciences, toxicology, bacteriology, and more.

We care for an array of species and see approximately 20,000 cases each year. We offer specialty services as well as primary care. Our comprehensive care allows us to treat a variety of illness and injuries. We are open 24/7, 365 to provide care for your animal.

Dr. Blazevich performs dental procedure on jaguar

LSU Vet Med dentist performed root canal on jaguar at Audubon Zoo

On July 19, Dr. Blazevich, assisted by dentistry nurses Meg Quinn and Michelle Badeaux and fourth-year veterinary students Phillip St. Martin and Sudarshini Coimbatore, traveled to Audubon to perform the procedure in the Zoo's veterinary hospital.

The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine will hold a public dedication of its stunning new sculpture titled, "In Our Hands" by Vito Di Bari on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 4 p.m. near the entrance of the Stephenson Pet Clinic on Skip Bertman Drive.
